At the top of Group C and going strong right now, the South American underdogs need a win against Uruguay to seal a place in the knockout stages of Copa America. Chile won their first match of the tournament against Mexico by scoring 2-1 victory. It was a fantastic win for the FIFA 2010 World Cup round of sixteen team as they ran rampant against a young Mexican side which provided them with stiff competition. Chile are an intimidating outfit with aggressive players in their first team line up.

Oscar Tabarez’s side are on the down right now. They failed to win their opening encounter against Peru despite fielding Diego Forlan, Luis Suarez and Edinson Cavani in the same formation. The strategy back fired for Tabarez and now Uruguay find themselves in a precarious situation which demands that the FIFA 2010 World Cup semi-finalists should avoid defeat against Chile if they want to progress to the knock-out stages of Copa America. As a part of group C, Uruguay have already wasted their chances of scoring an easy win by drawing against Peru and now they will face off against a youthful Mexican side but before that they have to steer clear of Chile, who are in top form at the moment. With just a single point from a single match in the group stages, Uruguay are third in their group at the moment. Everything now depends on their encounter against Chile.
