That should have put England in good stead to go into their second match against the Ukraine with a some confidence. The Ukraine had lost their opening fixture against the Czech Republic and were the group outsiders. However, Welbeck turned villain a little bit, as he wasted a good opportunity to give England a vital three points in the group. His general performance was overshadowed by that of Daniel Sturridge up front though, and the Chelsea man went close on a couple of occasions. However, England were largely limited to long range efforts, and they just could not carve open decent opportunities to break down the stubborn Ukrainian back line.
